Dutchman gave an encore with Oltre XR4 in Amiens Métropole: Fausto Coppi was the latest to do so on a Bianchi
Bianchi + Team Road + Product
Team LottoNL-Jumbo's Dylan Groenewegen achieved a resounding performance on his Bianchi bike by winning his second stage in a row at the Tour de France. The Dutchman rode his Oltre XR4 to success in the stage 8, 181 km from Dreux to Amiens Métropole (France) on Saturday, July 14th. Thanks to a strong and powerful final action, Groenewegen outsprinted André Greipel e Fernando Gaviria, both relegated in the final positions of the bunch for unfair moves and replaced on the podium by Peter Sagan and John Degenkolb.
The eleventh seasonal win of the 25-year-old rider from Amsterdam - who re-affirmed himself in the inner circle of World's top sprinters - really has a special flavour. Winning two stages in a row at Tour de France isn’t a common feat for anybody, and doing that on a Bianchi bike allowed Groenewegen to imitate one of the greatest champions of cycling history: Fausto Coppi. In 1952, the Campionissimo triumphed at the Alpe d'Huez on July 4th, wearing the leader's jersey, and gave an encore on July 6th in Sestriere, after the rest day.
The Dutch rider is competing at the Tour de France's road with a special hand-painted edition Oltre XR4 bike, the high-performance aero road racing machine enhanced with the revolutionary Bianchi CV system that gives riders an aerodynamic advantage. The bike of Groenewegen is characterized by the Dutch Lion realized with an appealing metallic paint and the triple "X" on the top tube, the historical symbol of his birth city - Amsterdam.
