Chiara Teocchi will start in the frontline at the Italian Cyclocross National Championships Under 23 Women's race, taking place in Silvelle di Trebaseleghe (Italy) on Sunday, January 8th. Crowned European champion last October in Pontchateau (France), Team Bianchi Countervail's 20-year-old rider stands out among the favourites for the final success, on a course where she already topped the Women Open race in the 2015-2016 season. The rider from Bergamo will ride her Zolder disc in the Women’s race - including Elite, U23 and Junior riders - taking place at 9:00 am.
"I feel calm and concentrated on the eve of another important event , because I know I'm well prepared for that. The Italian Championships are one of my seasonal goals, after the Europeans and before the Worlds. If Sara Casasola will compete among Juniors, my main rivals will be Silvia Persico and Rebecca Gariboldi" Teocchi explains.
Chiara tries to predict the race conditions and evolution. "At that time, we could find a frozen, muddy and hard course. The role of favourite is heavy to carry: in the CX races you can't be sure of anything until the finish line, because an incovenience or a bad day risk to block your deals any time. Anyway, I'm up for the challenge and I'll give all of myself in the hunt of the prestigious tricolore jersey".
After the Italian Championships in Silvelle, Teocchi will focus on the CX World Cup rounds to be held in Fiuggi (Italy) on January 15th and Hoogerheide (Netherlands) on January 22nd, before closing the CX season at CX Worlds in Bieles (Luxembourg) on January 28th.
