Bianchi secures Giro d’Italia podium with Simon Yates
Simon Yates claimed the third overall position after three hard-fought weeks, with his imperious stage 19 victory in Alpe di Mera as the brightest highlight. The race was a fantastic showcase for Bianchi, throughout Italy and around the world.
After 21 days of intense, passionate competition, Bianchi and Simon Yates have stepped onto the podium of the 2021 Giro d’Italia together. The 28-year-old British climber secured third position after the final time trial in Milan on Sunday, May 30th, behind the race’s eventual winner Egan Bernal and second-place Damiano Caruso.
The Team BikeExchange rider was among the top performers of the Corsa Rosa, showing his outstanding, explosive prowess as a climber with his Bianchi Specialissima – which is also the official bike of the 2021 Giro d’Italia. Yates claimed a prestigious solo victory in stage 19 at Alpe di Mera.
“Bianchi is an Italian brand with a great heritage. Thanks to the victory at Alpe di Mera aboard on my Specialissima, I’m proud to be part of the Bianchi history as a stage winner at the Giro d’Italia and podium finisher”, said Simon Yates.
BIANCHI’S JOURNEY AT THE HEART OF THE GIRO D’ITALIA
As official sponsor of the Corsa Rosa, Bianchi was integral part of this three-week travelling festival, a joyous return to its traditional place in the calendar in May. The Italian brand combined a prominent presence in the heat of the action, with impactful interactions with the passionate cycling public, who lined the race route all the way from Turin to Milan, the city of Bianchi’s origins.
Bianchi used Il Giro to demonstrate its values of innovation and inspiration through every facet of the Pink race. At the start of each stage, the Giro d’Italia’s fans and stakeholders admired Bianchi’s flagship models at the Experience Center: not only the road all-rounder Specialissima, the official bike of the 2021 Giro d’Italia, and Team BikeExchange’s original Oltre XR4, but also the adventurous Arcadex gravel model, the newly-launched e-bike family, e-Omnia, and the e-Impulso.
A NEW APPROACH TO MOBILITY IN THE GIRO-E
Bianchi was also the official partner of the Giro-E, the dedicated e-bike event taking place on the same route as the Giro d’Italia. Through the all-electric event, Bianchi has the perfect conduit to communicate its Lif-E philosophy, based on its three pillars: sustainability, wellness and innovation.
