Bianchi wins a breathtaking Liège-Bastogne-Liège

Primoz Roglic took his first Monument in Liège-Bastogne-Liège, 257 km on Sunday October 4th, 2020. Runner-up at Tour de France, the Team Jumbo-Visma rider and his Oltre XR4 outsprinted World Champion Julian Alaphilippe in a close five-man finish. The Slovenian Champion rounded-out a perfect race, ahead of Marc Hirschi and Tadej Pogacar, as the race officials decided to demote Alaphilippe to fifth place. After the Strade Bianche and Milan-Sanremo victories, Bianchi continued its impressive streak of success, taking the second Monument of 2020 season.

It’s just unbelievable,” said Roglic after the finish line. “It was so close. I just never stopped believing and kept pushing until the last metres, actually the last centimetres. It was on my wishlist to win a monument, and I’m super happy to have succeeded”.

THE WINNING BIKE: BIANCHI OLTRE XR4

Primoz Roglic’s Oltre XR4 features the Bianchi CV system that enhances handling control by cancelling up to 80% of road vibrations thanks to a unique composite material integrated into Bianchi’s high-performance carbon frames and forks. The advantages for the riders are increased control, less muscle fatigue and, ultimately, more energy available at the crucial moment, such as in the close final sprint.

At the Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Primoz Roglic used a special Oltre XR4 in a black colourway. Bianchi developed a unique paint system that significantly reduces the molecular weight of the coating. Thanks to Bianchi particular paint system, the Bianchi’s rider saved up to 80gr on the bike’s total weight, improving the power to weight ratio when climbing.
