LottoNL-Jumbo and Bianchi’s May hot stretch in the UCI World Tour is continuing in June: after the highlights of George Bennett’s GC success at Amgen Tour of California and Jos Van Emden’s dominating performance in Giro d’Italia final time trial, Koen Bouwman secured another remarkable win at the World Tour level at the Criterium du Dauphiné on Tuesday June 6th.
Bouwman and his Bianchi Oltre XR4 earned the honors in stage 3, 184 km from Le Chambon-sur-Lignon to Tullins (France). The 23-year-old Dutch capped a six-man breakaway effort by outsprinting fellow escapees Evaldas Siskevicius and Frederik Backaert. Part of the breakaway was also Bouwman's teammate Alexey Vermeulen, who ended in fifth position. LottoNL-Jumbo was also awarded as best team on the day.
Bouwman is giving consistency to his breakaway efforts, after going on the attack also in Monday’s stage 2. Dressed in the Polka Dots on behalf of overall leader Thomas De Gendt, Bowuman is currently second in the KOM classification (14 points) and third in the Points classification (25).
Bianchi supplies the Team LottoNL-Jumbo with four models engineered with Countervail® viscoelastic carbon material: Oltre XR4, designed to maximize the aerodynamic advantage and control; the ultralight Specialissima, perfect for GC riders, extra stiff for increased traction and stability at high speeds, and maximum control on the descents; Infinito CV that provides remarkable control on uneven surfaces and reduces muscular fatigue; the ultimate time trial machine Aquila CV, designed to increase power output and rider's energy, with maximum control with each pedal stroke.
