Mission accompished: Chiara Teocchi confirmed herself as XCO Women’s Under 23 Italian champion, riding Methanol CV to a solo victory in Genoa on Saturday, July 22nd. The 20-year-old rider from Bergamo completed her effort in 1:18:32, with a 1:34 advantage on Martina Berta and 2:28 on Giorgia Marchet. Teocchi celebrates her seventh National title among Cyclo-cross, XCO and XCE. A chain break undermined Marco Aurelio Fontana’s race among Elites, forcing the Prorider to withdrawal in the opening lap.

TEOCCHI: “A SPECIAL WIN IN THE PRESENCE OF PRESIDENT GIMONDI”
“I managed to make a quick start and only Martina Berta remained in my wake. When I saw I could distance her uphill, I kept on pushing hard, even closing on the élites that had started before us. To win an Italian National title in the presence of our President Felice Gimondi was really a special feeling. I thank the whole team, from Team Manager Massimo Ghirotto to the staff: they all allow me to race in the best conditions and with the best bikes” Chiara Teocchi explained.

GHIROTTO: “HAPPY FOR CHIARA IN A BITTERSWEET DAY”
“It was a bittersweet day for us. We are all so happy for Chiara’s great performance and encore. She deserved this win, a fruit of her great dedication. At the same time, we’re bitter and disappointed for the mechanical issue that undermined Fontana’s race just after the start. Anyway, this is sports, this is mountain bike. We look ahead with confidence, hoping in an immediate ransom from next week” Team Manager Massimo Ghirotto added.

THE TEAM’S BIKES
