LottoNL-Jumbo and Bianchi ended a strong Tour de France on a high note in Paris: Dylan Groenewegen claimed the craved final stage of 2017 Tour de France, Montgeron-Paris Champs Elysees (105 km), taking his first career Grand Tour win, aboard his Bianchi Oltre XR4, on Sunday July 23rd.

No one could put a wheel ahead of Groenewegen on the iconic Champs Elysees stretch: the former Dutch National Champion used great legs and the aero advantage of the award-winning Oltre XR4 to remain to the fore with a very long kick, and hold off the likes of Andre Greipel and Edvald Boasson Hagen.

LottoNL-Jumbo and Bianchi are making a habitude of closing Grand Tours on a high, and better if in great scenic finishes: before Groenewegen, Jos Van Emden took his Aquila CV TT bike to victory in Giro d’Italia’s closure in Milan, in the famous Piazza del Duomo.

The final week of the Tour de France brought its share of glory days for Bianchi. Groenewwgen’s win in Paris makes up for a shiny Tour de France balance for the LottoNL-Jumbo team, that had already secured another remarkable stage win with Primoz Roglic in one of the most anticipated mountain stages, the 17th, Le Mure-Serre Chevalier, featuring the Col du Telegraphe and Col du Galiber climbs, on Wednesday July 19th.

Previously, LottoNL-Jumbo and Bianchi had grazed more stage wins with Robert Gesink, second in stage 8th, and Groenewegen himself, 3rd in stage 10 and 2nd in stage 11.

GROENEWEGEN: “AN AMAZING WIN”
“That’s amazing – said an astonished Groenewegen afterwards – I went nose to nose with Kristoff and came out in second place from the final bend. At that point, I heard the voice of someone who was encouraging me, and that gave me the boost to dare, give it all in the sprint and deliver this amazing win for my team and our sponsors.”
