Lars Boom rode his Bianchi Oltre XR4 to a thrilling solo victory in BinckBank Tour stage 5 on Friday, August 11th. The Team LottoNL-Jumbo Dutchman was in the thick of the action through the whole race, a demanding 164,9 km ride with start and finish in Sittard-Geleen (Netherlands). Boom timed his attack perfectly with 1,5 km to go, leaving a selected group of 16 favourites behind and managing to stay clear of the chasers all the way to the finish, thanks to his rouleur skills enhanced by the aero advantage of the award-winning Oltre XR4. World Champion Peter Sagan (Bora-Hansgrohe) and Olympic Champion Greg Van Avermaet (Bmc) crossed the finish line with a 3-second gap, respectively second and third. The 31-year-old Dutchman claimed his first seasonal win and the first in a Team LottoNL-Jumbo jersey. Thanks to the time bonus, Boom leads the general classification of the World Tour stage race – that he already won in 2012 – with a 2-second advantage on Sagan.

On the same day, Steven Kruijswijk finished 5th in Tour de l’Ain stage 3, 135,2 km from Lagnieu to Oyonnax (France). The Team LottoNL-Jumbo Dutchman, equipped with Bianchi Oltre XR4, crossed the finish line 1’10’’ behind winner David Gaudu (Fdj). With one last stage to go, Kruijswijk is currently fourth overall, 1’20’’ down on new leader Thibaut Pinot (Fdj).

Bianchi supplies the Team LottoNL-Jumbo with four models engineered with the revolutionary Countervail® viscoelastic carbon material:
