Primoz Roglic once again confirmed he belongs among the best time trial specialists in the World. The Team LottoNL-Jumbo Slovenian displayed a superb performance in the Individual Time Trial at the World Championships in Bergen (Norway), claiming the silver medal behind winner Tom Dumoulin, on Wednesday, September 20th. Brit Christopher Froome rounded out the podium in third.

Roglic started very fast the 31 km-long time trial, setting the best time at the first intermediate with his Bianchi Aquila CV, one of the most successful time trial machine in the World Tour. The 27-year-old Slovenian controlled his pace a bit in the middle section before pushing hard again in the finale, taking advantage of Aquila CV’s advanced handling in order to wind through the technical bends in spite of the wet tarmac.

At the foot of the final 3,4 km-long ascent, Roglic decided to change his bike, climbing up to Mount Fløyen with his Oltre XR4, Bianchi’s ultimate aero road racing machine. The tactic paid dividends as the Slovenian specialist set the provisional best mark at the finish line. His time of 45:38 withstood the rest of the field, apart from Dutchman Tom Dumoulin, who finished 57 seconds faster. Sixteenth place for Victor Campenaerts, the other rider at the start equipped with Bianchi Aquila CV and Bianchi Oltre XR4.

With this silver medal at the Worlds, Roglic crowns a brilliant season with six wins to date, including the triumph in Tour de France stage 17, featuring the iconic Galibier climb. The Slovenian will also take part on Sunday, September 24th, in the World Championships Road Race with LottoNL-Jumbo’s teammates Lars Boom, Jos Van Emden, Amund Grondahl Jansen, Paul Martens and Alexey Vermeulen.

In the same day, Team LottoNL-Jumbo’s Maarten Wynants rode his Bianchi Oltre XR4 to the second place at the Omloop van het Houtland Lichtervelde (195,3 km with start and finish in the Belgian town of Lichtervelde) after being in a breakaway concluded with a three-man sprint. Belgian Tom Devriendt claimed the victory.

Even at the Worlds, Bianchi equips the Team LottoNL-Jumbo’s riders with four models engineered with the revolutionary Countervail® Vibration Cancelling Technology:
  • Oltre XR4, designed to maximize the aerodynamic advantage and control.
  • Specialissima, the ultralight frame, perfect for GC riders, it’s extra stiff for increased traction and stability at high speeds, and maximum control on the descents.
  • Aquila CV, the ultimate time trial machine, designed to increase power output and rider's energy, with maximum control with each pedal stroke.
  • Infinito CV, the ideal bike for the Classics, providing remarkable control on uneven surfaces and reducing muscular fatigue.
