Victor Campenaerts is the new European Time Trial Champion. On Thursday, August 3rd, Team LottoNL-Jumbo's Belgian won the gold medal in the UEC European Time Trial race in Herning (Denmark). Thanks to his TT skills, enhanced by Aquila CV, one of the most successful time trial bikes in the World Tour, Campenaerts covered the 46 km course in 53 minutes and 12 seconds, flying at a speed of nearly 52 km/h (51,9 km/h) and seeing off Pole Maciej Bodnar by 2 seconds. Third was Irishman Ryan Mullen, with a 4-second gap. Another Team LottoNL-Jumbo rider powered by Bianchi Aquila CV, Dutch Jos Van Emden, took fifth place. Campenaerts, 2016 Belgian National TT champion, improved his last year's silver medal and comes after Spaniard Jonathan Castroviejo in the golden book.
“I felt very well from the beginning” stated the new European Champion, who was already the best of the continent in 2013, in the U23-category. “I managed to maintain a high pace until the finish. I always try to get the best out of my time trials. The fact that this results in an European title is amazing. I made a lot of progress over the past years and I’m very happy with my new jersey after I lost my Belgian stripes because of a crash.”.
BIANCHI AQUILA CV
The European title is just another major achievement for Bianchi Aquila CV, the revolutionary time trial machine engineered with Countervail Vibration Cancelling Technology, to guarantee enhanced handling, maximum control and reduced muscular fatigue. Team LottoNL-Jumbo and Campenaerts himself were instrumental in the testing and development of Bianchi's Time Trial machine, that included advanced wind tunnel testing to reach the ultimate aero performance. The results are the extraordinary successes achieved in the Time Trial races, including the final stage of 2017 Giro d'Italia with Jos Van Emden.
Bianchi supplies Team LottoNL-Jumbo with three more high-performance models engineered with Countervail® technology: Oltre XR4, Specialissima and InfinitoCV.
