Team LottoNL-Jumbo's rookie Pascal Eenkhoorn rode Oltre XR4 to his maiden pro victory at Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali's stage 1a, 97,8 km with start and finish in Gatteo (Central Italy) on Thursday, March 22nd. Eenkhoorn preceded American Lawson Craddock in a two-man sprint, after a long escape started after 12 km, that initially included also Emil Dima. The winner completed his effort in 2:12:43.
The whole Team LottoNL-Jumbo helped Eenkhoorn to hold the GC lead placing then fourth in Coppi & Bartali's stage 1b, a 13,3-km TTT from Gatteo a Mare to Gatteo. The Dutch squad including Enrico Battaglin, Koen Bouwman, Sepp Kuss, Paul Martens, Daan Olivier, Neilson Powless and Eenkhoorn himself clocked a 14:55 time, with a 10-second gap from the Team Sky and only one second slower than CCC Sprandi Polkowice and Mitchelton-Scott.
