Gesink 2nd in Giro's last mountain stage

Team LottoNL-Jumbo's Robert Gesink left his mark on Giro d'Italia's penultimate stage, 214 km from Susa to Cervinia (Italy) on Saturday, May 26th. The Dutchman rode his Oltre XR4 to second with a 2:17 gap from the stage-winner Mikel Nieve and 25 seconds ahead of third placed Felix Grossschartner. 
Part of the large early break of the day, Gesink was brilliant on the on the Col Tsecore and Col San Pantaléon climbs and then able to recover from mechanical problem on the final uphill, overtaking Brambilla, Ciccone and Grossschartner to eventually be runner-up. Team LottoNL-Jumbo placed twelve times in 101th Giro d’Italia’s Top 5 and fifteen times in the Top 10 so far.
Fourteenth in Cervinia, Gesink's teammate George Bennett is actually eighth in the GC, with only one stage to Giro's end.
