Winning on the home soil has always a better taste, Primoz Roglic knows it now. Team LottoNL-Jumbo's Slovenian soloed to win Tour of Slovenia's stage 4, 155,2 km from Ljubljana to Kamnik (Slovenia) featuring 3 KOM and a 2.000-meter elevation, taking the GC lead on Saturday, June 16th. Roglic delivered another powerful display outdistancing all the rivals, preceding countryman Matej Mohoric and Polish Rafal Majka (both +33). Former race leader Rigoberto Uran finished fifth with the same gap.
Team LottoNL-Jumb claimed the second success at 25th Tour of Slovenia after Dylan Groenewegen’s successful sprint in the stage 2 in Rogaska Slatina while Roglic had previously been in the spotlights in the stage 3 with several attacks and the third position on Celje's finish line. It's not simply a moment of grace for the Slovenian, as he already was overall winner of two World Tour stage races, the Itzulia Basque Country (where Primoz topped also the Points Classification thanks to three runner-up spots) and the Tour de Romandie (the three stage podiums) and stage-winner at Tirreno-Adriatico and Itzulia Basque Country. Roglic will defend his lead in Tour of Slovenia’s final stage, a 21,5-km from Trebnje to Novo Mesto on Sunday, June 17th.
