Team Bianchi Countervail’s Stephane Tempier finished seventh in UCI Mountain Bike World Cup’s stage 4, in Val di Sole (Trento, Northern Italy), on Sunday July 8th. With his Methanol CV, the 32-year-old Frenchman relied on a consistent pace in the Men’s Elite race, crossing the finish line 2:16 behind World Champion Nino Schurter, winner ahead of Italian Gerhard Kerschbaumer and Dutchman Mathieu Van der Poel.
Second last year in Val di Sole, Tempier was coming off an altitude training period. “I’m satisfied – said Team Bianchi Countervail’s athlete, ninth in the overall standings with 467 points – Lap after lap, the feeling were getting better: I am looking forward to Andorra, next week, where I will be looking to improve my result.”
Nadir Colledani finished sixteenth, whilst Marco Aurelio Fontana, still not at his best after last week’s crash, placed 43rd. The squad chaired by Felice Gimondi occupies the fourth place in the Teams Classification.
Unfortunate day for Chiara Teocchi in the first event of the Sunday’s programme in Val di Sole, the Women’s U23 race. The Italian youngster withdrew in the race won by Swiss Sina Frei due a bad fall and a severe blow to the abdomen. “Chiara underwent medical investigations: despite the strong blow, she didn’t report anything major”, Team Manager Massimo Ghirotto explained. Teocchi occupies the eighth overall place.
Bianchi supplies the team with two high end carbon models with racing geometry: the revolutionary Methanol CV and Methanol 29.1 FS (full suspension). The Junior Team is equipped with Methanol 29 SX model.
