Teocchi takes bronze at XCO Italian Championships

Colledani and Fontana placed fifth and sixth respectively in Men's Elite race

Team Bianchi Countervail's Chiara Teocchi stepped up the podium winning the bronze medal in XCO Italian Championships Women's Elite race in Pila (Northern Italy) on Saturday, July 21st. The 2017 Women's U23 champion crossed the finish line two minutes and 40 seconds behind the winner Eva Lechner and 1:29 behind Serena Calvetti. A long up for a medal, Nadir Colledani and Marco Aurelio Fontana placed fifth (+3:04) and sixth (+3:44) respectively in Men's Elite race.
 
TEOCCHI: "I LOST TOO MUCH GROUND AFTER BREAKING A SHOE"
Both brilliant and unlucky in the opening lap, Chiara Teocchi is fatalistic about the third position scored in her debut XCO Championships in the Women's Elite series. "Unfortunately in the first lap and I had to stop in the box because of a damaged sshoe, losing more than one minute. I aimed to win this race, but I'm young and I'll have more chances infuture Italian championships" Teocchi commented.
 
COLLEDANI AND FONTANA’S EFFORTS WERE IN VAIN
Marco Aurelio Fontana and Nadir Colledani fought for the podium with Daniele Braidot and Mirko Tabacchi, teammates of the silver medallist Luca Braidot, who constantly run in the second position. "Once we realized they didn't cooperate with us, we mainly worked for Nadir, who looked to be strong in the uphills. I finished sixth in a high-level race: my performance was not so bad afterwards, but it wasn't enough achieve a medal. Now we can only turn the page and to look forward next goals" Fontana commented.
 
TEMPIER TO TAKE IN XCO FRENCH CHAMPS TOMORROW
Stephane Tempier aims for the success in French National championships Men's Elite race, scheduled tomorrow, July 22nd, at 2.45 PM in Lons le Saunier (France). The 32-year-old rider from Gap was bronze medallist in 2017 edition.
