Van Poppel runner-up in the Vuelta a Espana stage 6 mass sprint

Team LottoNL-Jumbo's Danny Van Poppel was runner-up in La Vuelta ciclista a España stage 6, 155,7 km from Huércal-Overa to San Javier (Spain) on Thursday, August 30th. The 24-year-old Dutchman rode his Oltre XR4 to sprint for success side by side with Nacer Bouhanni, who prevailed in 3:58:35 ahead of the Utrecht's rider and Italian Elia Viviani. Van Poppel came to fifth in the Points classification (30, same of Simon Clarke), whilst his teammate Steven Kruijswijk went up in the GC, from tenth to ninth.
Van Poppel collected eleven podium displays in 2018, including the wins in Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana's opener and Halle Ingooigem and the silver medal at Road Dutch National Championships.
