Team Bianchi Countervail's Nadir Colledani was brilliant second with Methanol CV in a muddy and hectic Titano XCO, Internazionali d'Italia Series' round 3, held in San Marino on Sunday, April 28th. Under a heavy rain that made the race course even more demanding, Colledani stood up to race winner, European champion Lars Forster, and outdistanced the World and Olympic champion Nino Schurter in the final lap. Forster finished in 1:20:51, with a 52-second advantage over Colledani and 1:25 over Schurter.
"I'm really happy with this performance, it's a good starting point in view of the XCO World Cup. I didn't expect a race like this, in some moment I couldn't realize I was challenging toe to toe with Forster and Schurter. Anyway, I made my race, trying to keep my pace even when they attacked. Leaving the World champion behind me was a special sensation, but I stay grounded" Colledani stated after the race.
In spite of a really hard race, Stephane Tempier (Team Bianchi Countervail) managed to hold Internazionali d'Italia Series' lead. The Frenchman moved to 86 points in the GC indeed, 16 more than Gerhard Kerschbaumer, whilst Colledani went up to the thirsd sport with 63 points.
"It was really a cold and hard race, but we can be satisfied with the result: I hold the leader's jersey and Colledani claimed an outstanding podium spot", Tempier commented.
Back to competitions in San Marino, Chiara Teocchi placed sixth in the Women's Open race topped by Eva Lechner.
