Groenewegen scores hat-trick at Tour of Britain
Mass sprint is a byword for Dylan Groenewegen’s success at OVO Tour of Britain. Like in the opener and in the stage 3, the Team Jumbo-Visma’s Dutchman outsprinted all his rivals in the stage 5, 174,1 km with start and finish in Birkenhead (UK) on Wednesday, September 11th. Equipped with Oltre XR4, the 26-year-old athlete from Amsterdam preceded Matthew Walls and Matteo Trentin.
Groenewegen celebrated his 15th individual victory and Team Jumbo-Visma’s 46th success of 2019 so far.
Groenewegen’s teammates Mike Teunissen and Amund Grondahl Jansen are fifth and seventh in the GC respectively after five stages. Jos Van Emden will look for a good display in Pershore ITT to be held on September 12th.
ROGLIC HOLDS VUELTA’S LEAD
Primoz Roglic (Team Jumbo-Visma) retained Vuelta a España leader’s jersey after the long and hard-fought stage 17 (Aranda de duero – Guadalajara, 219,6 km) on Wednesday, September 11th, won by Philippe Gilbert. The Slovenian can manage a 2:24 advantage on Nairo Quintana and 2:48 on Alejandro Valverde.
