Team Bianchi Countervail’s Chiara Teocchi won the Team Relay title with the Italian squad at the MTB European Championships started today, Thursday July 26th in Stattegg Lasserhof (Austria). Teocchi rode her Methanol CV in the fourth leg, giving a solid contribution to the success of the national team including Luca Braidot, Marika Tovo, Filippo Fontana and Juri Zanotti. Italy clinched the gold medal finishing the race in 1:23:18, with a 14-second advantage on Switzerland and a 45-second on Denmark, second and third placed respectively.
Teocchi completed her effort in 18:47,7, defending the second position from Switzerland’s recovery and trying to narrow the gap from Denmark, eventually overtaken by the Italian team in the final fraction. “I’m really happy, I needed such a result! This success comes from the excellent teamwork we made with all the Italy’s riders and staff. At the race eve, the most experienced riders showed us the technical stretches, then we supported each other during the race and the final display was really great. Now I’ll rest a little ahead of the Women’s Under 23 race I’ll take in next Sunday”, Teocchi explained.
Last year Teocchi had been bronze medallist in MTB European Championships' Team Relay race in Darfo Boario Terme (Italy). Chiara placed also third a few days ago at the XCO Italian Championships, for the first time in Women's Elite series. The Italian will be back in action on July 29th in the XCO Europeans Women's Under 23 race, starting at 1:00 PM.
