Team LottoNL-Jumbo's Dutchman rode Oltre XR4 to a podium spot in the wake of Valverde and Sagan in Almadén

Danny Van Poppel (Team LottoNL-Jumbo) scored his second podium spot at 73rd edition of La Vuelta ciclista a España, finishing third in the stage 8, 195,1 km from Linares to Almadén (Spain) on Saturday, September 1st. In the tough uphill sprint, the 24-year-old from Utrecht rode his Oltre XR4 among the fastest wheels, finishing the stage in the wake of Alejandro Valverde and Peter Sagan in 4:35:54.
Thanks to the podium display in Almadén - his twelfth seasonal one including two wins (Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana's opener and Halle Ingooigem) - Van Poppel went up to fourth in the Points classification (46). His teammates Steven Kruijswijk and George Bennett are ninth and eleventh in the GC.
