Roglic raises his GC ambitions in Vuelta stage 7
Primoz Roglic (Team Jumbo-Visma) re-affirmed the soundness of his GC ambitions at 74th Vuelta a España, grazing win in the stage 7, 183,2 km from Onda to Mas de la Costa (Spain) on Friday, August 30th. The Slovenian finished the stage in the wake of Alejandro Valverde, with a 6-second advantage on the overall leader Miguel Angel Lopez and his fellow countryman Nairo Quintana. Roglic’s teammate George Bennett finished ninth (+1:07).
Overall winner of UAE Tour, Tirreno-Adriatico and Tour de Romandie in 2019, third placed in the latest Giro d’Italia, Roglic went back to second in the GC reducing by half his gap from Lopez (+6), with Valverde paying 12 seconds to the current leader.
Third in Calpe’s stage 2 a few days ago, Primoz Roglic now second also in the Points Classification, as well as Team Jumbo-Visma in the Teams Classification behind Movistar Team.
