ROGLIC THIRD IN VUELTA A ESPANA STAGE 9
Team Jumbo-Visma’s Primoz Roglic placed third in 74th Vuelta a España stage 9, 94,4 km from Andorra la Vella to Cortals d’Encamp (Andorra) on Sunday, September 1st. With a strong recovery in the final kilometers, in a racing day marked by early-winter-like weather, Roglic finished the stage with a 48-second gap from the winner Tadej Pogacar and 25 seconds behind Nairo Quintana, with Alejandro Valverde in his wake.
Thanks to his third podium spot in nine stages – after the 3rd place in Calpe and runner-up in Mas de la Costa – Roglic went up again to GC second, with a 6-second gap from the new leader Quintana. The Slovenian will attack the GC lead in Pau’s ITT to be held on Monday, September 2nd.
