Superb Jumbo-Visma with Aquila CV flying to Tour de France TTT

The Bianchi-equipped WorldTour team rode to win again in Brussels with a 20-second advantage on Team Ineos and 21 on Deceuninck – Quick Step, as Teunissen strengthened his GC lead

Bianchi’s celeste color seemed on matching perfectly with the Tour de France’s iconic yellow in the 2019 Grande Boucle opening weekend. After Mike Teunissen’s success in the opener, the Team Jumbo-Visma scored another superb victory in the stage 2, a 27,6 km team time trial with start and finish in Brussels. Equipped with Aquila CV, the WorldTour’s most successful TT bike, the Dutch team clocked 28:57 (57,202 kph), with a 20-second advantage on Team Ineos and 21 seconds on Deceuninck – Quick Step.

Thanks to the strong team’s performance, Mike Teunissen strengthened his lead in a GC dominated by Bianchi-equipped riders, covering the whole Top 5. Team Jumbo-Visma’s Wout Van Aert is now runner-up with a 10-second gap from Teunissen, followed by Steven Kruijswijk, Tony Martin and George Bennett (same time). Teunissen also leads the Points Classification (green jersey), whilst Van Aert tops the Youth Classification (white jersey).

During this season Team Jumbo Visma’s riders highlighted their outstanding TT machine by winning 7 individual races (achieving 3 national titles), while the whole team had already won at UAE Tour.
