Team LottoNL-Jumbo's New Zealander sprinted for the victory with Polish Majka, whilst his teammates Gesink closed fifth leading the GC riders group

Team LottoNL-Jumbo's George Bennett went within an inch from the success at Amgen Tour of California's stage 2, 143 km from Modesto to San Jose (US). Equipped with Oltre XR4, the New Zealand's rider sprinted for the victory with Polish Rafal Majka, settling for second ahead of Ian Boswell and Lachlan Morton (+7). Bennett's teammate Robert Gesink led the GC riders group got to the finish line with a 37-second gap.
Bennett is also second in the GC, two seconds behind Majka, whilst Gesink came up to fifth (+48).
