Robert Gesink placed second in Tour de France stage 8 (Dole - Station des Rousses 187,5 Km), in the Jura Mountains (France), on Saturday July 8th. With his Oltre XR4, Team LottoNL-Jumbo’s 31-year-old rider launched his attack in the second half of a tough stage won by Frenchman Lilian Calmejane. Guillaume Martin completed the day’s podium.
Gesink moved on the attack in the last ascent, Côte de la Combe de Laisia-Les Molunes, engaging an exciting head-to-head with Calmejane. Gesink’s outstanding placement  boosts the whole team spirit and ambitions in view of the upcoming mountain stages.
