Team LottoNL-Jumbo's Primoz Roglic and Bianchi conquered one of Tour de France's most expected and fascinating stages, the 17th, 183 km from La Mure to Serre Chevalier (France) on Wednesday, July 19th. The Slovenian rode his Bianchi Oltre XR4 to win by attacking on the Galibier climb – 2017 Grande Boucle’s highest point - leaving behind his breakaway companions – including two-time Tour de France winner Alberto Contador - and managing to stay clear of the chasers all the way to the finish. Rigoberto Uran was second with a 1:14 gap, the yellow jersey's owner Chris Froome rounded out the podium.

First Slovenian ever to win a Tour de France stage, Roglic started to build his feat in the early race, entering in a 30-man escape. In spite of a crash on the Croix de Fer uphill, Team LottoNL-Jumbo's rider came back to the front, managing to precede Mollema and Pauwels on the Col du Telegraphe KOM and then outdistancing all his rivals on the highest slopes of the Galibier, claiming this year’s "Souvenir Henri Desgrange" in the process. The forcing of Froome’s group couldn’t close on Roglic’s advantage: the 27-year-old from Trbovlje made the best of his rouleur skills and benefited from the aero advantage of his Oltre XR4 machine to confidently raise his arms up on the finish line. Primoz achieved the most important win in his career.

With the decisive action on the climb that saw Marco Pantani surge to the yellow jersey on a Bianchi back in 1998, Roglic victoriously ended Bianchi and Team LottoNL-Jumbo pursuit of a stage win in this 2017 Tour de France.
