Tour of Britain’s stage 5 turned into a party for Team LottoNL-Jumbo, on Thursday, September 7th. The Dutch squad, sponsored by Bianchi, made first and second in the 16,2 km time trial in Tendring (Great Britain), with Lars Boom nabbing the victory and Victor Campenaerts finishing 6 seconds down. Strong rides also for Jos Van Emden, fifth, and Primoz Roglic, twelfth. The Team LottoNL-Jumbo riders were equipped with Bianchi Aquila CV, one of the most successful time trial bike in the World Tour, already in the spotlight at the European Championships with winner Campenaerts and in the final stage of 2017 Giro d’Italia, with Van Emden.

Victor Campenaerts was the first Team LottoNL-Jumbo’s rider to take the provisional lead, seeing off former ITT World Champion Vasil Kiryienka by only 1 second. The Belgian specialist sat in the hot seat until his teammate Lars Boom put in a blistering performance, struggling with the wind to set the best mark. Boom completed his effort in 19:02, 6 seconds ahead of his teammate and 7 seconds better than Kiryienka - third.

Thanks to this victory – the 22nd for the Dutch team in 2017 – Boom moved into the overall lead. With three stages remaining, the 31-year-old Dutchman has an advantage of 8 seconds over Campenaerts and 9 seconds over Kiryienka. Van Emden sits in fifth at 13 seconds.
