Tempier wins XCO stage and takes GC lead at Garda Lake MTB Race

Team Bianchi Countervail's Frenchman celebrated in Manerba del Garda (Italy) ahead of Fontana; Colledani fifth. Teocchi fourth among Women

Stephane Tempier (Team Bianchi Countervail) scored his first seasonal win in Garda Lake MTB Race's XCO stage in Manerba del Garda (Italy) on Saturday, April 7th. The Frenchman clocked a 1:25:39 time, opening a 1:17 gap on teammate Marco Aurelio Fontana who outsprinted former race leader Andrea Tiberi. Nadir Colledani was fifth. Also Team Bianchi Countervail's President Felice Gimondi was on the spot to cheer his riders' exploit. Thanks to this success, Tempier burst in the GC lead with a 2:05:27 overall time and a 1:17 advantage on Andrea Tiberi, followed by Marco Aurelio Fontana (+1:19) and Nadir Colledani (+2:21).
Runner-up in the short track on Friday, Chiara Teocchi closed fourth in the Women's XCO race won by Linda Indergand. The reigning Women's Under 23 Italian champion is also fourth in the GC with a 25-second gap from the podium. Garda Lake MTB Race’s  final 50 km Granfondo event will take place on April 8th at 9.00 am.
