Van Aert close to win Tour de France stage 5
Bianchi keeps on playing a key role with Team Jumbo-Visma at 106th Tour de France. After two amazing victories in the first two stages, Wout Van Aert went really close to a third team’s win in stage 5, 175,5 km from Saint-Dié-des-Vosges to Colmar (France), on Wednesday, July 10th. Aboard his Oltre XR4, the 24-year-old Belgium TT champion from Herentals placed second in the sprint behind Peter Sagan, while Italian Matteo Trentin completed the podium.
Thanks to the 6-second bonus secures in the Haut-Rhin’s city, Van Aert strengthened his GC second spot, 14 seconds behind the jellow jersey’s owner Julian Alaphilippe and 11 seconds ahead of his captain Steven Kruijswijk and teammate George Bennett. Van Aert strengthened his lead in the Youth Classification with a 26-second advantage on Egan Bernal.
