Van Aert runner-up in Critérium du Dauphiné stage 3


The Team Jumbo-Visma Belgian rode Oltre XR4 close to win and strengthened Youth Classification’s lead

Wout Van Aert finished second in Critérium du Dauphiné stage 3, 177 km from Le Puy-en-Velay to Riom (Francia) on Tuesday, June 11th. The Team Jumbo-Visma Belgian rode Oltre XR4 once again to graze a mass sprint win, in the wake of Irish Sam Bennett and ahead of Italian Davide Ballerini.

Third placed in Dauphiné opener, Van Aert strengthened his lead in the Youth Classification: the 24-year-old rider from Herentals can now boast a 9-second advantage on Bjorg Lambrecht and Odd Christian Eiking.

Meanwhile, Van Aert was included in Team Jumbo-Visma’s line-up to enter next Tour de France starting on July 6th: the Belgian will take in the Grande Boucle for the first time ever.
