Vingegaard claims maiden pro win and Tour de Pologne GC lead


The young Dane rider gave Team Jumbo-Visma the 40th seasonal win

Jonas Vingegaard (Team Jumbo-Visma) rode Oltre XR4 to his maiden pro win in Tour de Pologne stage 6, 160 km from Zakopane to Kościelisko on Thursday, August 8th. The 22-year-old Dane attacked in the final soloing to win with a 4-second advantage on Pavel Sivakov and 6 seconds on Jai Hindley. The success in Kościelisko also earned Vingegaard the GC leader’s jersey, with one stage to go: the Tour de Pologne’s finale is the stage 7 with start in Bukovina Resort and finish in Bukowina Tatrzańska on Friday, August 9th.

Vingegaard awarded Team Jumbo-Visma with the 40th success of the 2019 season, standing out as the ninth rider in the team able to clinch an individual victory.
