Vuelta leader Roglic runner-up in stage 18
Team Jumbo-Visma’s Primoz Roglic placed second in Vuelta a España stage 18, 177,5 km from Colmenar Viejo to Becerril de la Sierra (Spain), on Thursday, September 12th. Powered with Oltre XR4, the Slovenian extended his overall leadership by outsprinting GC rivals Alejandro Valverde and Rafal Majka, with a 15-second gap from stage-winner Sergio Higuita.
The 29-year-old rider from Trbovlje leads the overall standings with a 2:50 advantage on Spain’s Alejandro Valverde and 3’31” on Nairo Quintana.
The sixth podium spot in 2019 Vuelta – including the Pau ITT – also allowed Roglic to strengthen his hold on the Points Classification with 137 point, ahead of fellow countryman Tadej Pogacar (99) and Colombia’s Quintana (82).
