Roglic gets payback at Vuelta, third placed in Calpe
Primoz Roglic gave Bianchi and Team Jumbo-Visma the first podium of the 74th Vuelta a España, claiming a third place in the stage 2, 199,6 Km from Benidorm to Calpe (Spain), on Sunday August 25th.
With his Bianchi Oltre XR4, the 29-year-old Slovenian rider crossed the finish line behind the winner, Colombian Nairo Quintana, and Irishman Nicolas Roche, the latter new overall leader.
In Vuelta’s stage 2, Roglic got his payback after the unfortunate crash in the opening Team Time Trial, caused by a patch of water on the route. Today the Slovenian, overall third at the last Giro d’Italia, showed to be one of the main contenders to the final podium in a very difficult stage.
Tirreno-Adriatico and Tour de Romandie’s overall winner occupies the sixth overall place, 36” behind the leader Roche.
Team Jumbo-Visma’s Jonas Vingegaard finished second overall the 29th edition of the PostNord Danmark Rundt – Tour of Denmark, 11” behind the winner Niklas Larsen.
The 22-year-old Dane equipped with Bianchi Oltre XR4 had already grabbed a podium spot in his home race finishing second in the stage 3, on Friday August 23rd.
