JAKOB OMRZEL WINS STAGE 12 OF THE VUELTA A ESPAÑA ON BOARD HIS BIANCHI OLTRE RC
Rising Slovenian star secures a spectacular solo victory on the summit of the Calar Alto.
Treviglio (Italy), Friday 4th September: Team Bahrain Victorious and Bianchi celebrated an incredible victory on stage 12 of the Vuelta a España, with Jakob Omrzel producing a stellar climbing performance on board his Oltre RC to claim a solo triumph at the summit of the Calar Alto.
Battling relentlessly throughout the gruelling mountain stage, the 20-year-old Slovenian executed a tactical masterclass to claim his first professional win. Omrzel launched his decisive attack 13 km from home and powered up the final climb to take his victory with a one-minute and 56-second advantage.
That outstanding display continued a hugely successful race for Team Bahrain Victorious, who also saw Santiago Buitrago take third position on the stage and extend his lead in the King of the Mountains classification to 22 points.

We’re a really great team. We understand each other really well, and we’re working so well together. The whole team was just perfect on Thursday. I’m really proud.”
